Catalogues and discounts?

I was wondering, I read some of you mentioning something about getting a discount when ordering the first catalogue, is this discount valid on the store too, or only on mail and internet orders? Since there is this big chance that I will go to NY and I intend to buy at least two dolls and many outfits, and they have this 8.25% tax, I would be very happy to get a discount... Usually the catalogue will say if it is valid in store (they aren't always)- but you have to have the catalogue with you.

Just so you know- not EVERY first catalogue has a discount, so don't be disappointed. It seems to be pretty random how they go out.

My Aunt gets discount codes alot- and she hasn't placed an order since 1993! I haven't gotten one in years.

Hmmmm... so the catalogue must be in my name, huh? Well, maybe I can write them and explain that I am going and I would love to have a catalogue so I can plan what I am going to buy, who knows, maybe they can send the catalogue overseas... I doubt it, though...
